Day 2 on the road…

by Sarah on Jun.02, 2009, under Cali or Bust!

Today has been a long day. We made it from Tennessee to Oklahoma, about 550 miles. We are about thirty minutes outside of Oklahoma City, Ok right now.

Today went well over all. I wore a long sleeve light shirt to keep the sunburn from getting worse.. Kept the phone charging in my bag most of the day.. Rick made his bike more comfortable in his usual MacGyver style LOL…

I think Arkansas and Oklahoma look a lot alike as far as being flat.. no road kill… and a lot of cows and fields… It makes me miss the mountains :0)

Once again.. not much road kill to report.. Just a lot of tire pieces all over the roads.. and occasionally some weird looking dead animal..

I am a little disappointed.. I haven’t seen a water buffalo yet.. :0(   Ahhh.. but the trip is young.. Maybe tomorrow?!

Coming through Oklahoma tonight, I thought we were in Vegas.. There are casinos everywhere!!! My grandma would be in heaven!

Tomorrow we are heading towards the Petrified Forest, Meteor Crater, and the Grand Canyon.. And should be camping out too.. I’ll take a lot of pics tomorrow!

Keep the comments coming!!!!!!!

The Beginnings of a Zune (mp3 player) burn… ouch…

For all of you that were interested.. there is the bag from wal-mart.. the front pocket holds the camel bladder (2liters of water).. It has worked very well so far.. It might could use some duct tape at this point in time though HEHEHE…

I think this was a rest stop somewhere in Arkansas

Your tracking site is great! You’ve done a fair bit of traveling in a short amount of time. Glad the weather is cooperating too. One word…sunscreen! I love seeing the pics of you and Rick looking so happy & having FUN! I can’t wait until your next “On the Road” report and pictures….why this is even WAY better than what’s on TV, lol! Stay safe. Love to you both, Mom :>)

Enjoyed the pics and the commentary. Glad you two are having fun. If you thought Oklahoma is flat and nothing to see, be glad you did not drive Arkansas from end to end LOL.

Did not get your call last night. Storm took out power and phone for about two hours. Also wreck on our road took out power pole and transformer about 5pm.

You guys continue having fun and be safe. Can’t wait for your safe return so I can hear all the tales.

    Love and prayers,
    Daddy Nodirt

    P.S.
You are following my motto and I love you for it, “Leave more for others to follow than footprints in rice paddy.”.
Hell is not getting old and not being able to do something you want to, hell is getting old and regretting you did not do something you wanted to when you could.
I am proud of you and love you both. Be careful out there and have a grand old time.
